Since the Compact ERL (cERL) was constructed and successfully commissioned, the beam loss studies are performing systematically to prevent the radiation damage of the accelerator elements, and to keep the irradiation outside the machine at the safety level. There are different reasons of the beam losses in cERL. It could be the beam halos and longitudinal bunch tales; dark currents from the cathode and the superconductive accelerator cavities; beam line elements misalignment; kicks from the steering coils, input / HOM couplers, as well as laser mask diffraction and scattering at the camera’s mirror. Our goal is to find the reason of the beam halo and beam loss in cERL. Some result of the beam halo measurements and corresponding simulations, that are one step towards to the beam halo and beam loss mitigation are presented in this work.
