How to visit and do reserach work at SuperKEKB:

If you are interested in the SuperKEKB reserach work and have a plan to visit KEK,
please download and fill out the application form below.

Application Form for SuperKEKB International Board

In principle, both domestic and international researchers are welcome to participate, but it depends on the plans and conditions of the accelerator. Acceptance of all applications is not guaranteed.
Before planning a visit to KEK, we recommend to make discussions with us via ZOOM meeting or e-mail. Especially, if you are Ph.D. student, we also require the help and commitment of your supervisor at your home institute.

If you would like to use SuperKEKB data for research, please contact us in advance. Also see below Experimetal Data

KEK Contact Person

A KEK researcher will serve as the contact person for the visiting researcher. The contact person will support the visitor in achieving their research objectives during the stay, by facilitating connections with relevant experts and offering advice on the direction of research. Visitors are expected to proactively engage in research by communicating directly with KEK researchers (not only the contact person) and taking initiative in their work.

Daily Life

For matters related to daily life during the stay (such as accommodation, administrative procedures, and general support), inquiries should be directed to the KEK User's Office, not to the contact person.

Basics on Accelerator Physics and SuperKEKB

Regarding basic knowledge of accelerator physics and SuperKEKB, KEK expects that visitors will hav studied the relevant information in advance. If possible, it is advisable to consult with colleagues from the same group who have previously stayed at KEK and share relevant information beforehand.

Accelerator Study

If a visitor wishes to conduct an independent accelerator study, a proposal must be submitted in advance and may only be carried out if its usefulness is recognized and approved. (Since Belle II phyics runs have the highest priority during beam operation, available time slots for accelerator studies are limited.) Approved studies may often be postponed depending on the accelerator status; thus, visitors are strongly advised to allow for a sufficiently long stay. In the event of serious operational issues, the study may be canceled entirely.

Experimental Data

Experimental data obtained through the accelerator studies may be used in publications or doctoral theses, provided that certain conditions are met. However, prior notification to KEK is required before such use. The SuperKEKB group will support a basic review to ensure that the content contains no factual errors, but will not take part in structuring or supervising the thesis or paper itself.
